PHOENIX — With a short-handed bench and center fielder Steven Duggar still feeling the effects from a lower back injury, the Giants felt compelled to add an outfielder to their roster on Friday.
The promotion of Alex Dickerson raised some eyebrows among Giants fans, but manager Bruce Bochy explained why the organization tabbed Dickerson to take Duggar’s roster spot.
“There are some guys doing a pretty good job, but the power is intriguing,” Bochy said. “A left-handed power bat, we’re missing a little power in our lineup and he might be able to help us out there.
