SAN FRANCISCO–It was a quiet first month on the job for Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, but there’s plenty of time left for the new front office executive to make noise this offseason.
The process of creating a buzz began in earnest Friday at Major League Baseball’s non-tender deadline as Zaidi elected to non-tender reliever Hunter Strickland and outfielder Gorkys Hernández, making the duo free agents.
The Giants also agreed to terms with second baseman Joe Panik and reliever Sam Dyson on one-year deals and tendered a contract to left-handed reliever Will Smith, the club’s only remaining arbitration-eligible player.
