A new president of baseball operations is expected to make significant changes to the Giants’ 40-man roster this offseason.
But the new executive the Giants plan to hire won’t have to make big decisions regarding five players the franchise outrighted to Triple-A Monday.
San Francisco announced that infielders Kelby Tomlinson, Chase d’Arnaud and Miguel Gomez as well as pitchers Casey Kelly and Tyler Herb were outrighted to Triple-A and moved off of the 40-man roster. The Giants had five players end the season on the 60-day disabled list and needed five open roster spots to clear space for players who were unable to stay healthy until the end of the year.
