SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Giants decided the only remaining competition for a roster spot this spring, optioning catcher Andrew Susac to Triple-A Sacramento following Monday night’s exhibition loss.
Trevor Brown will begin the season as Buster Posey’s backup.
Monday night’s roster move wasn’t a surprise. It’s not much of a competition when the field is down to two cars and one of them is stuck in pit row.
Although Susac reported more improvement in his sore right wrist, and stung two hard fly outs with a walk in a minor league game while live pitching for the first time in a week, he had fallen too far behind.
