SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants emptied another spot on their 40-man roster on Friday, hours before the start of free agency. Outfielder Juan Perez cleared waivers and was outrighted to the minors.
The move comes two days after the Giants opted not to pick up options for outfielders Nori Aoki and Marlon Byrd. The club now has just five outfielders on the 40-man: Starters Hunter Pence and Angel Pagan, valuable reserve Gregor Blanco, and rookies Jarrett Parker and Mac Williamson.
