SAN FRANCISCO – Pablo Sandoval is here to show the Giants what he can and cannot do on a baseball field.
That includes whether he can still thrive as a switch hitter, after abandoning the right side at times during his tumultuous tenure with the Red Sox.
But Giants manager Bruce Bochy won’t ask Sandoval to do everything at once. One day after making his return to the club, Sandoval is out of the Giants lineup Sunday against Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Patrick Corbin.
“He had all the travel, and it was a long day for him,” Bochy said of Sandoval’s reintroduction, in which Giants fans mostly cheered him as he went 1 for 3 with a double.
