PHILADELPHIA -- Casey McGehee said he had to do plenty of soul searching before heading down to Triple-A Sacramento.
"You look at yourself in the mirror and you have to be honest with yourself," McGehee said.
McGehee was hitting .200 with 12 double plays when the Giants optioned him to Triple-A and made Matt Duffy the everyday third baseman, but McGehee opted to make the best of the situation. When he went to Sacramento he started working with Andy Skeels, the Triple-A hitting coach, and said a fresh set of eyes brought immediate improvement.
"There was some mechanical stuff going on that I was struggling with," he said.
