Giants notes: Johnny Cueto's exhibition debut pushed back, Madison Bumgarner works with a new catcher

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Johnny Cueto’s exhibition debut with the Giants is being pushed back.

Cueto will not start the home game in Saturday’s split-squad. Instead, he was told he would make his first start of the spring on Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies.

“There is nothing wrong with me physically,” Cueto said through translator Erwin Higueros. “It is just the manager that made the decision to push me back. … It is well known that I had a long last year. I pitched a lot. The team is just holding me back to be cautious with me, and I appreciate what they are doing for me.
