SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – When Hunter Pence isn’t going through baserunning drills at full throttle, you know something is wrong.
The Giants’ effervescent right fielder cut short his workout Saturday after experiencing soreness in his right Achilles tendon. He was diagnosed with tendonitis and will take two to three days off as a precaution.
Pence likely won’t be in Wednesday’s exhibition lineup, then.
“It’s very minor – nothing to worry about,” Pence said. “Just trying to be smart about it.”

Pence usually leads the baserunning drill, or has been known to pass other players.
