ATLANTA – The Giants have several decisions to make over the coming weeks as they seek to shed roster pieces that no longer serve them while identifying others that could contribute in 2018 and beyond.
They might have already found some wheat among the chaff.
Right-hander Sam Dyson threw a pair of impressive innings in a leveraged spot Wednesday night, giving the Giants chances to rally that they squandered in a 5-3, 11-inning loss to the Braves.
Dyson’s fastball hit 95.6 mph, he generated swings on all four changeups he threw, and his cutter was effective as he threw it on the hands of right-handed batters.
