Giants notes: Could Belt be next to get a deal?

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants have a pretty simple strategy when it comes to homegrown contributors: Keep them.

Brandon Crawford was the latest to get a long-term deal, agreeing to a six-year, $75 million contract that will keep him at AT&T Park through at least 2021. Crawford and Brandon Belt have always been connected as young Brandons who came up together, and the first baseman could be next. General manager Bobby Evans said he has had some discussions with Belt and his representatives, although it's unlikely anything gets done soon. Evans said the Giants may agree on a one-year deal to avoid arbitration and then discuss a long-term contract.
