In the bottom of the seventh inning during Friday night’s Giants-Nationals game, a group of fans gathered on the rocky shoreline of McCovey Cove put on an amateur (and illegal) fireworks display of their own. Blasting rockets just beyond the right field wall, the unsanctioned show was (probably) a celebration of Wilmer Flores’s 410-foot home run that gave the Giants a commanding — and lasting — 5-3 lead over the visiting Washington Nationals.
Janie McCauley, an AP sports writer based in San Francisco, caught the display on video from the press box, and subsequently posted it on Twitter.
