Bruce Bochy said Sunday in Los Angeles he’d give Matt Duffy a break “in a couple of days.” One day later, Duffy and his .173 batting average were out of the lineup as Kelby Tomlinson got his first big-league start at third base Monday.
Duffy has watched more video of his at-bats than normal, trying to break down his mechanics and figure why he’s scuffling after hitting .295 as a rookie.
He thinks he and batting coach Hensley Meulens might have found a problem.
“Bam and I might’ve found a mechanical flaw,” Duffy said.
