SAN FRANCISCO — None of the seven franchises currently searching for a new manager had as much time to prepare for the hiring process as the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants have known since February that Bruce Bochy planned to retire and that president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi would spend the first four-to-eight weeks of the offseason interviewing potential successors.
Zaidi has insisted since spring training that he’ll enter the process with an open mind, which is good news for the Giants’ two internal candidates, Hensley Meulens and Ron Wotus.
