Giants make push for postseason by adding pitching at trade deadline

The Giants landed the bullpen help they’d been seeking by acquiring left-handed reliever Will Smith from the Milwaukee Brewers shortly before Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline.

The Giants traded top pitching prospect Phil Bickford and catcher Andrew Susac to the Brewers for Smith, a source confirmed. The source did not want to be identified because he did not have the authority to speak on the matter.

Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan first reported the Giants’ acquisition of Smith and CSN Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic first reported the minor-leaguers involved.

Smith, 27, gives the Giants another left-hander in the bullpen with Josh Osich currently on the disabled list.
