SAN FRANCISCO–In Saturday’s 14-inning win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Giants helped rookie right-hander Roberto Gomez earn his first Major League win.
Gomez kept a game ball as a souvenir and placed it in the upper right hand corner of his locker in the Giants’ clubhouse, but that locker is now vacant.
On Monday night, the Giants optioned Gomez to Triple-A Sacramento to make room for another rookie looking for his first victory, Tyler Beede.
Since being selected with the 14th overall pick by the Giants in the 2014 MLB Draft, Beede’s arrival at the Major League level has been highly anticipated.
