Giants lose hard-throwing relief prospect to Marlins on waiver claim

The Giants thought they secured a much-needed power arm for practically nothing last December. Then he had Tommy John surgery in March. Now he is a Miami Marlin, having thrown not a single pitch for the Giants.

Miami on Tuesday claimed right-hander Julian Fernandez on waivers, which in a way helps the Giants by giving them an extra spot on their 40-man roster.
