The Giants had an opportunity to split a four-game series and take a season series from a playoff contender, but they squandered it. They lost 10-0 and it never felt that close. The Cardinals got the game-winning run across before a second out was recorded. This September is off to a better start than last September, but that isn’t saying much.
Nothing went right for Logan Webb. He gave up eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, but he deserved better than that. He gave up four hard hit balls which is as many swinging strikes as he had, so he didn’t exactly pitch well.
