Giants look to new lineup to solve hitting woes, top prospect lands on DL

CINCINNATI–Brandon Belt just returned from a knee injury and doesn’t appear to be running free and easy.

But for the first time in Belt’s career, he’ll bat leadoff Sunday as the Giants look to snap a three-game losing skid.

Belt is 3-for-14 since returning from the disabled list Tuesday in Los Angeles, but manager Bruce Bochy chose to shake up the order and put his first baseman at the top after the Giants scored a combined two runs in their first two games at Great American Ballpark.

With former Giants prospect Luis Castillo pitching for the Reds, Bochy inserted three left-handed hitters into the top four spots in the batting order.
