PHOENIX — When Joe Panik missed almost all of the last two months of 2015 with a back injury, there was concern. A young player, in only his second season, sidelined with a serious back injury seemed like a red flag.
Panik, after an offseason of rehabilitation, says he has no cause for concern. And he’s playing like it.
On Thursday at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix, Panik went 3-for-3 against the Brewers, and accounted for the Giants’ first two runs in their 3-1 win. Panik scored a run after hitting a double to left in the first inning, and drove in Angel Pagan with a long, hard-hit double to center field.
