GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Jarrett Parker is putting up nice numbers in his bid to win the Giants’ left-field job, at least in a platoon role.
The most telling number isn’t his .323 average. Or team-leading 10 RBIs. Or team-high seven walks.
It’s his six strikeouts.
“He’s shortened things up, he’s got better plate discipline, he’s laying off some tough pitches,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
Parker has McCovey Cove power, but his high strikeout rates have been a concern - 35 percent of his minor-league at-bats and 37 percent in the majors.
