SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–It was already a bad weekend for Giants’ lefty Ty Blach.
His Creighton Jays lost in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
But Blach’s Saturday start against the A’s didn’t do much to make him feel better.
In his fifth start of the spring, Blach surrendered seven extra base hits and seven runs to an Oakland split-squad lineup that defeated San Francisco 8-3. The contact made against Blach was consistently loud as the A’s peppered the gaps at Scottsdale Stadium early and often on Saturday afternoon.
“Tough day for Blach, he was off with his location today,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
