SAN DIEGO — Hunter Pence sat out Triple-A Sacramento’s game Sunday, a day after he exited in the third inning.
The Giants are being cautious with their right fielder who’s coming off right hamstring surgery. It’s possible Pence could play for Sacramento on Monday.
“He’s feeling like he could play, but we thought it best he take the day off,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “You’ve got to be careful. ‘Slow-play’ is what we say all the time with these guys. You’re trying to stay away from setbacks.”
Pence was removed from Saturday’s game in Round Rock, Texas, after his third-inning single.
