One interesting theme of the San Francisco Giants offseason has been the lack of external hires. Between firings, not re-signing people, and allowing personnel to choose other options, the Giants have seen a lot of talent leave their walls lately — from President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi and General Manager Pete Putila, to Director of Baseball Analytics Michael Schwartze, to hitting coach Justin Viele, to coach Alyssa Nakken. But the talent they’ve used to fill (and expand on) those spots has mostly come from within, from board member Buster Posey replacing Zaidi, to Zack Minasian getting promoted to GM, to broadcaster Randy Winn earning a spot as VP of Player Development.
