Giants GM Bobby Evans responds to report that Rays could seek additional trade compensation because of shortstop prospect Lucius Fox's undisclosed foot injury

WASHINGTON – As if parting with fan favorite Matt Duffy wasn’t a steep enough price for Giants fans, the Tampa Bay Rays reportedly could seek additional compensation from Monday’s trade that sent left-hander Matt Moore to San Francisco.

That’s because teenage shortstop Lucius Fox, one of two prospects packaged with Duffy in the trade, “came over as unexpectedly damaged goods with a foot injury,” according to a report in the Tampa Bay Times.

Fox, 19, fouled a ball off his left foot roughly a week before the trade was completed and played through the injury, a fact that the Rays reportedly did not know.
