SAN FRANCISCO — Center fielder Kevin Pillar was out of the starting lineup for the first time Friday night as the Giants opened a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Pillar, acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays on April 2, had started 31 consecutive games and has provided a spark both with his bat and ability in the outfielder.
Given the power provided of late by Mac Williamson and Tyler Austin, manager Bruce Bochy had both in the lineup, moving Williamson from left field to right field, Steven Duggar from right field to center and Austin playing in left.
