BOSTON — The last and only time Matt Cain pitched at Fenway Park, in 2007, he got Cained. Big-time.
He held the Red Sox to a Manny Ramirez homer in seven innings and lost 1-0.
On Wednesday night, Cain returns from the disabled list and makes his first start since June 13 at a time when the offense is gasping. He faces the former Padre Drew Pomeranz, who makes his first start for Boston.
A loss would be the Giants’ fifth in a row, matching their longest streak of the season.
