Giants flash power, but lose to Mets on walk-off single

NEW YORK – If these losses continue to pile up, the Giants could be extinguished by the end of this month. But there might be an even greater danger. The deader they look, the more complicated a roster retrofit will be for 2018 and beyond.

So even in a 4-3 loss to the New York Mets on a walk-off hit in the ninth inning Monday night, the Giants could take solace in playing a cleaner, more competitive game. And they could rediscover the joy of watching a Buster Posey home run soar into the second deck.

Posey’s power has flickered for the better part of a calendar year.
