Giants feeling the squeeze of MLB’s too-small rosters

There are players in the NBA who rarely see the floor in meaningful situations. In the NFL, teams are never caught short for backups or circumstantial specialists.

That’s because both of those leagues understand the meaning of depth. Baseball remains stuck in a long-gone era, refusing to acknowledge the times and making managers’ lives inexcusably difficult.

It’s nothing short of a joke that the Giants have just four players on their bench: Hector Sanchez, Ryan Lollis, Juan Perez and a backup infielder, either Ehire Adrianza or Kelby Tomlinson.
