Giants extend SS Crawford with six-year contract

SAN FRANCISCO -- Brandon Crawford grew up dreaming about playing shortstop for the Giants. On Tuesday, the Giants made sure the Bay Area native will get to do it for years to come.

The Giants awarded Crawford with a six-year contract on Tuesday.

The contract is worth $75 million according to a Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, and it includes a full no-trade clause and no option years.

Crawford, 28, was arbitration-eligible for the first time last season and made $3.175 million. The Giants have made a habit of locking up their own stars, and last spring the two sides briefly talked about an extension.
