DENVER — When the Giants’ offense caught fire at the beginning of July, it was third baseman Evan Longoria and left fielder Alex Dickerson providing the spark.
Dickerson is expected to miss another week with a right oblique strain, but the Giants are optimistic their lineup will receive a much-needed reinforcement for Sunday’s series finale in Denver.
If all goes well during pregame tests on Saturday for Longoria, who has been sidelined with a foot injury, the Giants are expected to welcome him back for the final day of a nine-game road trip.
“Two guys in the heart of the order, that’s not easily replaced,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
