Giants end a big Saturday with second win of the day

The book of baseball oddities never runs out of pages, which makes it such an intriguing read.

To wit, the Giants had not won consecutive games for more than a month until they accomplished it with two victories on the same calendar day, no doubleheader needed.

With sleep still in their eyes after a 17-inning win that ended at 12:43 Saturday morning, the Giants beat the Reds 3-1 in the afternoon for their second back-to-back wins of the season.

The Giants continued a recent homer "barrage" against right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla when Brandon Belt sent his sixth Splash Hit into the cove in the first inning and Justin Ruggiano hit his first homer with the Giants an inning later onto the net over the center-field wall.
