Matt Duffy was a huge surprise in 2015. But the Giants third baseman fell short of winning the NL Rookie of the Year, finishing second in the voting announced on Monday.
Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was a unanimous winner, voted on by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Pirates shortstop Jung Ho Kang finished third.
Bryant received all 30 first-place votes, while Duffy received 22 of the 30 second place votes and four third-place votes.
After the Giants pulled the plug on the Casey McGehee experiment in early July, Duffy took over the everyday duties.
