Will Wilson didn't want to get his hopes up.
Several selections before the Giants were on the clock with the No. 13 pick in the 2020 MLB draft, his wife, Tori, received a texted from Patrick Bailey's fiance, Leigha, that said Patrick was going to be a Giant. Wilson, the Giants' No. 10 prospect, was teammates with Bailey for two years at North Carolina State.
Wilson has been through the draft process before, though. He knows anything he can happen. The shortstop was drafted No. 15 overall by the Los Angeles Angels last year, and then traded to San Francisco at the Winter Meetings.
