DENVER — In Farhan Zaidi’s first offseason as president of baseball operations, the Giants scoured the free agent market for cheaper, under-the-radar assets who could potentially provide depth for a roster with serious flaws.
Six weeks into the season, Zaidi has already designated three of the free agents the club signed for assignment.
The Giants announced a slew of roster moves Tuesday, promoting outfielder Mac Williamson and infielder Donovan Solano to the 25-man roster. The club also called up left-handed reliever Williams Jerez to aid a depleted bullpen ahead of a three-game series against the Rockies at Coors Field.
