SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Andrew McCutchen, Austin Jackson and Andres Blanco took turns hitting against Johnny Cueto on a side field at Scottsdale Stadium on Wednesday.
Not the best way to work on one’s timing at the plate. Not with Cueto throwing his usual assortment of delayed pitches, quick pitches and even a mini-shimmy or two.
In his second session in camp facing hitters, which lasted 35 pitches, Cueto did a decent job fooling his teammates, and McCutchen walked away particularly impressed with Cueto’s changeup and sinker.
The Giants have been slow-playing Cueto, who didn’t throw much in the offseason and missed time last season with blister and an elbow issue.
