Giants’ Cueto could be asked to pitch in WBC title game

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Giants are watching Saturday night’s World Baseball Classic game between the United States and the Dominican Republic with more than passing interest.

Pitching coach Dave Righetti said that should the Dominicans beat the Americans to advance to the final round in Los Angeles, the Giants expect pitcher Johnny Cueto to be asked go, most likely to pitch in a potential championship game at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday.

The Dominicans would have to beat Japan in a semifinal game Tuesday night.

The pitch limit for a final-round game is 95.
