As the Giancarlo Stanton saga continues to rumble slowly, with the Cardinals getting their chance to be heard Friday, the business of baseball marches on. Unfortunately for Giants coach Hensley Meulens, the march will not take him to New York City.
Meulens made a strong impression on the New York Yankees when he interviewed for their managing vacancy, rising to one of two finalists, but The Chronicle learned and several media outlets in New York confirmed that another former Yankees player, Aaron Boone, will get the job.
Boone will replace Joe Girardi, who was fired despite leading the Yankees to an American League wild card.
