MIAMI — The day the Giants drafted Joey Bart with the second overall pick, the Georgia Tech catcher said he’d like to begin his pro career quickly, and he’ll get his wish.
The signing is expected to be announced as early as Friday, after Bart passes a physical in Arizona. He’ll initially train at the Giants’ facility in Scottsdale before reporting to his first minor-league team, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the short-season Northwest League.
“ATL-AZ .. may the journey begin,” Bart posted on his Instagram account Wednesday, signifying his flight from Atlanta to Arizona.
