Giants’ Casilla, Romo, Cain working way back; debuts for Cueto, Crawford

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Relievers Santiago Casilla and Sergio Romo threw 30 pitches Wednesday on a back field at Scottsdale Stadium, facing hitters, and the results were promising.

“They looked sharp,” pitching coach Dave Righetti said.

If Casilla, who had been slowed by flulike symptoms, feels good Thursday, he’ll be penciled in to make his Cactus League debut Saturday. Romo will face hitters once more before appearing in a spring training game.

Matt Cain threw on flat ground, both long toss and then out of the stretch, and mixed in some breaking balls.
