SAN FRANCISCO — It had the feel of a spring training game. Maybe less.
There was nothing on the line in the regular-season final for the Giants and Dodgers Sunday at Oracle Park. The Giants were going home after their third straight sub-.500 season (77-85). The Dodgers were headed to the postseason with the best record in the National League.
And yet, for the sellout crowd of 41,909 in attendance, this game will be a cherished memory.
No, it won’t be the final score that folks remember. Dodgers 9, Giants 0. L.A. scored five runs in the first off Dereck Rodriguez (6-11) and the game was over.
