NEW YORK - Six-time All-Star catcher Buster Posey, who has been slowed this season by hip issues that caused him to miss the All-Star Game, faces likely hip surgery that would cut short his season, The Chronicle has learned.
“I’d say that that’s a safe assumption,” said Brian Sabean, executive vice president of baseball operations.
Manager Bruce Bochy said discussions are ongoing about a Posey surgery and added, “I’ll be honest with you. We have discussed that. We talked about it. Nothing’s been determined yet. Because we want him ready for next year. We’re discussing that now.
