Giants' Bumgarner hits career milestone against Rockies

Giants ace Madison Bumgarner recorded his 1,000th strikeout Sunday against the Colorado Rockies, becoming the youngest pitcher in franchise history to hit the mark in the San Francisco era.

He is 25 years and 331 days old.

Bumgarner struck out Rockies outfielder Brandon Barnes in the second inning.

He entered Sunday's game against Colorado needing one strikeout to achieve the milestone.

The previous youngest pitcher in the team's history to reach 1,000 strikeouts was Matt Cain.
