Giants break spring training with their 2016 MLB season-plan intact

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Giants set down their duffel bags in the spring clubhouse in mid-February with the team virtually picked and the roles more or less defined.

They broke camp Tuesday with the plan fully intact. So throw out that sub-.500 exhibition record. The Giants stayed healthy. The Giants won spring training.GM Bobby Evans didn't need to call any audibles because of injuries. For the first time in many years, a non-roster invitee won't make the opening day roster. Neither will young players like Mac Williamson and Clayton Blackburn, who showed enough this spring to force their way onto many big league squads.
