MIAMI — No, Brandon Crawford can’t get too amped about leading National League shortstops through the first week of All-Star voting. But yes, he’d be elated to start the July 17 game in Washington.
“To be a starter for an All-Star Game, you’re obviously getting the fan votes,” Crawford said. “I definitely appreciate those votes, but it’s still the first week.”
Crawford hasn’t been an All-Star starter. He made the 2015 All-Star team and played alongside second baseman Joe Panik, both in reserve roles.
