Brandon Belt, who could have been a free agent after the 2017 season, agreed to a five-year extension worth about $75 million, according to ESPN.
The Giants’ television network, Comcast Sports Net, reported Friday night the extension is worth more than $75 million.
The sides are considering an announcement before Saturday’s Giants-Dodgers game, The Chronicle has learned.
The first baseman would be getting his new deal five months after shortstop Brandon Crawford signed a six-year, $75 million extension through 2021.
Catcher Buster Posey also is signed through 2021 with a club option for 2022.
