MILWAUKEE - Madison Bumgarner is "weeks away" from throwing off a mound, but he continues to throw off flat ground and has not endured any setbacks in his recovery from a separated shoulder, manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday.
"He still has work to do," Bochy said. "I talked to him yesterday. I told him to be honest. He said that when he starts out, sure, he can feel it a little but, but the more he throws, it gets better, and that's normal."
Bumgarner sustained the shoulder injury and bruised ribs in an April 20 dirt-bike accident near Denver.
