The Giants’ pitching staff isn’t at all what was anticipated. The top three starters collectively have spent more time inactive than active, and the projected closer didn’t debut until June.
Yet, somehow, the Giants’ staff has posted the National League’s lowest ERA since June 1, a few days before Madison Bumgarner returned to the rotation after recovering from a broken finger.
Bumgarner pitched seven splendid innings and helped himself with an impressive defensive play at the plate on Tuesday, but the Giants fell to the Astros 2-1 after blowing another 1-0 late-game lead.
