SAN FRANCISCO–The Giants still have to play out the final two-plus weeks of the season, but they’ll do so without strength and conditioning coach Carl Kochan.
Kochan was relieved of his duties prior to the Giants’ weekend series against the Colorado Rockies, according to a source. NBC Sports Bay Area first reported the news of Kochan’s dismissal.
Kochan was preparing to finish his seventh season with the Giants, but became the first member of the major league staff to lose his job. A source said the Giants anticipate more changes at various levels of the organization this offseason, but it’s unclear why Kochan was not allowed to remain with the club through the end of the regular season.
