Giants’ bats betray Cain in 2-0 loss to Braves

The Giants returned to China Basin on Friday night, after a promising-turned-mediocre trip to St. Louis and Chicago, and rediscovered two inescapable truths.

Namely, Matt Cain still pitches way better at home than he does on the road — and the Giants struggle to score runs anywhere on Earth.

Their offense remained relentlessly anemic in a 2-0 loss to Atlanta. Cain pitched superbly, but it wasn’t enough to prevent San Francisco’s fourth consecutive loss.

The Giants scored only six runs in those four defeats, bringing them an unwelcome distinction.
